CoxHealth Fitness Centers offers Just Lose It weight loss challenge to the community – for free – and expands program to area communities
A new Just Lose It session kicks-off Feb. 28, and the program is again being offered for FREE to everyone ages 12 and up. This time, weigh-ins and program events will be offered not only in Springfield, but also in the communities of Lebanon, Monett, Nixa, Republic and Willard.
“Over the years, Just Lose It has helped our friends and neighbors lose more than 6000 pounds,” said Ashly Stelling, CoxHealth Fitness Centers. “By expanding the program to communities surrounding Springfield, we hope we can help even more people make lifestyle changes and lose that extra weight.”
CDC studies show that Missouri is one of the 12 most obese states in the nation, and in the Ozarks, every county in CoxHealth’s 22-county service area has an obesity rate equal to or greater than the state average of 30.3 percent.
“With programs like Just Lose It, we hope we can begin to help reverse that trend,” said Stelling. “The program focuses on nutrition and exercise, so participants can learn everything they need to make healthy choices and live a healthy life.”
Just Lose It kicks off 2 - 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, at CoxHealth Fitness Centers at The Meyer Center, 3545 S. National, and weigh-ins continue the week of March 4 at all locations. For a full schedule of weigh-ins and activities in all communities, visit http://www.coxhealth.com/JLI or call 269-3282.
The Just Lose It program includes nutrition challenges, cooking demonstrations, wellness walks at locations throughout Springfield and the Ozarks, weekly motivation and education via email, and more. Participants can also receive a free trial week at CoxHealth Fitness Centers, free fitness center guest passes for attending wellness walks and cooking demonstrations, and prizes will be awarded for those with the highest percentage of weight loss.
