Help CoxHealth “Stuff The Bus” for Springfield school kids

Did you know an overwhelming number of students in our community do not begin the school year with basic supplies for their education? Simple items that some take for granted like pencils, crayons, paper, or even backpacks to carry supplies are unavailable due to limited family resources.

You can make a difference to help give school children in Springfield a great start to the school year.

CoxHealth is partnering with James River Assembly, Care To Learn and Chick-fil-A for an event called “Stuff The Bus” from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2012 on the Cox South campus.

With your help, the goal is to literally stuff a school bus – floor to ceiling, front to back – with school supplies for children in need who attend Springfield Public Schools!

Supplies to bring to provide one child with a backpack full of school supplies include:

· Backpack

· School box

· Crayons (24 count)

· Glue sticks (2)

· Glue Bottle

· Scissors

· Pencils

· Eraser

· Spiral notebook

· Pocket folders (3)

· Composition notebook

You can bring enough supplies to stuff one backpack or provide what items you can. We appreciate any donation of items on this list!

The “Stuff The Bus” school bus will be parked on the parking lot near the southwest corner of National and Primrose near the former emergency room.

For participants at Cox North

Do you work at Cox North and want to participate in “Stuff the Bus” at Cox South this Friday? No problem! Thanks to Dan Morton and his team in the Mail and Shuttle Services departments, mail shuttle vans will be available to transport your backpacks filled with school supplies to Cox South.

Just bring backpacks to the Cox North receiving dock at the end of the old ER alley off of Robberson at least 15 minutes before any of the times listed below and the shuttle drivers will deliver them to the school bus!

As another way to help with this cause, Chick-fil-A will have lunch items available for your purchase and will donate 10 percent of all lunch proceeds to the “Stuff the Bus” program. This is a way for you to participate if you aren’t able to bring supplies. Employees who donate school items will receive coupons for their next visit to Chick-fil-A.

Come and show our community what our value of compassion is all about! Join us for “Stuff The Bus” Friday, July 27 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the east parking lot along National Ave. near Primrose on the Cox South campus. See you there!
